Thailand Umphang To Mae Sariang Off Road

After we had split with the others myself and Pounce continued to Umphang for the night.

One of the many refugee camps in the Umphang area.

Time to let out some air in the tyres.

Fun parts of the trail.

We arrived in the sleepy town of Umphang not much going on but we found this nice guest house.

After an eventful night in the local Karaoke it was time for a 7 eleven breakfast.

The road out of town is very scenic but mainly paved.

We decided to try another route that would we hoped bring us to Mae Sot

In the middle of nowhere was this buddha shrine complete with a very nice portrait of the Thailand past kings.

Strange thing about this trail we found nobody willing to sell us gasoline, we reached this school and asked again, but no luck to complete the the remainder of the trail we needed gas so decided to turn back and save this for another time.

Pounce being the tallest (by far) went first to test the depth.

Border guards wanting a picture and a ride on my bike.

Group shot with the boss man.

This was a very slippy crossing, me and my short legs decided to walk it.

One of the deepest crossing we found and very slippy.

Doi Paper with great views.

We make it to Mae Sot and check into the First Hotel, with some fantastic wood carvings.

Always an interesting place to walk around, so many different people types like most border towns.

Chinese temple in Mae Sot.

After a big breakfast at the Canadian it was time to head for Mae Sariang.

Locals only border crossing point.

Mae Salid Guest House, bit basic but clean.

Mae Salid is almost on the Myanmar border, most people have no ID.

Nice national park area.

Approaching Mae Sariang for the final leg, i was full of flu and headed home, Pounce continued to Mae Hong Song and Pai before returning to Australia, a great riding trip.
